Carrier guidance confirms that some destinations require a recipient tax ID, personal ID, customs ID, or business registration number for customs clearance. For example, Mexico requires recipient RFC/CURP or accepted foreign ID details, DHL lists several countries that require personal ID or tax ID, and UPS notes that most Latin American countries require the receiver’s tax ID or identification number for customs clearance.
Customs Tax ID / Import ID for International Orders
For some international shipments, customs authorities may require the recipient’s Tax ID, Import ID, National ID, or Customs Clearance ID before a package can enter the destination country.
This is not a Studio Ocea requirement. It is a customs and carrier requirement used to help verify the recipient and process the shipment through import clearance.
If your shipping destination requires this information, we may ask for it at checkout or contact you before shipping your order.
Why is this needed?
When artwork is shipped internationally, the package must pass through customs in the destination country. Some countries require the recipient’s local tax or identification number before the carrier can complete customs clearance.
Without this information, the package may be delayed, held by customs, returned to sender, or may require additional steps from the recipient.
